My Favorite Teas

fullsizerender-5

To start the day-

  1. Bigelow Vanilla Chai- I love steeping this in a 1/3 cup of water and then filling the rest with hot milk. It turns it into a kind of Tea Latte.  I do this usually when I need to wake up fast. The flavors punch awareness into my body and mind.
  2. Yogi Green Tea Kombucha- Kombucha is fermented black or green tea and sugar. This Kombucha is flavored with Spearmint, Lemongrass, Plum and Passion fruit. You can also make your own at home using this recipe. Cool tidbit: All yogi tea bags are compostable so I don’t have to throw them out, instead I can just put them in my plant’s dirt.
  3. Twinning English Breakfast- My favorite tea to start the day! If I am not drinking coffee I am instead enjoying English Breakfast. I love mixing it with milk, honey and sugar with a slice of biscotti.
  4. Touch Organic Oolong- If I am able to have a slow morning this is the tea I want. IT is soothing and allows me to clear my mind and plan for the day. Here are 10 health benefits of Oolong Tea. fullsizerender-4

To End the day-

  1. Yogi Ginger Tea- This tea is perfect is you are prone to stomach aches. I usually have some after I have eaten spicy foods and dairy. It is caffeine free so you can have it right after dinner.
  2. Arbonne Essentials Herbal Tea- This is a great tea to have right before bed. It is calming and has no caffeine. It is a mix of peppermint, milk thistle, dandelion and elder. I sometimes mix it in the morning with my Arbonne Fizz Sticks to have a fruity flavored caffeine boost.
  3. Bigelow Chamomile Vanilla and Honey- This is the tea you want if you have a sore throat and you want something extra soothing. It also helps calm your body to go to sleep. fullsizerender-2

Broke in NYC: Fitness

Many people have unlimited self-motivation and are their own instructors, I however, am not one of those people. If I do not attend a class, go to a gym, or have a buddy to run with I feel like I would never work out. That being said, as a graduate student working part time it is hard for me to find the extra cash for memberships and classes.

Here are some amazing resources to get fitness for free or discounted .

  1. List of Brooklyn yoga studios that let you volunteer your time for free classes.
  2. During the Summer Brokelyn lists all the free fitness events around the city.
  3. Classical Pilates Mat Class in Meatpacking
  4. Fitness activities in Central Park for Adults and Children
  5. Brooklyn Roadrunners in Prospect Park
  6. Lululemon in the Meatpacking district always seems to have a free class going onfavo

Fabletics Boutique

In spring 2016, part of my New Year’s Resolutions included working out more consistently.  Part of the motivation to get me excited to do this was to purchase workout clothes that I loved, and worked well for the activities that I was planning to do. Though I do find some random pieces like sports bras and running socks from Marshalls and T.J. Maxx, I find it hard to find brands that are consistently high quality, fashionable, and affordable. As a treat to myself, and as a test, I signed up with Fabletics Boutique, a monthly workout clothes subscription.

Ups: Lots of variety with new items every single month, that usually offer choices based on the season. Affordable prices. Items were true to size, comfortable, and did not re-adjust on your body during the workout. Free shipping on carts over $50, assuming no sales or promos. Great rewards for subscription members! If you are subscription member, you can skip the next month as long as you do so in a certain amount of time.

Downs: You have to call in to customer service to cancel your subscription, or use their live  online customer service. Sometimes it is inconvenient. If you don’t choose to skip a month and you are a subscription member, then you will be charged for a 49.99 purchase even if you didn’t select one (it becomes a credit on your account but still).

Pieces I have bought in 2016 and still love:

I have the Salar Capri in black and purple, and the Aventura tank in black and grey.

Items I am still lusting over:
